Spines
jutting out, like so many vertebrae, she stood in amazement, wondering
what time she'd have to leave her coveted spot on the porch in order
to get a glimpse. Dust had settled on the cars that no one seemed
to own, littering the gutters with scrap metal, blocking the best
spot for veiwing of the moonlight miracle. Truth was, the real miracle
was her children coming home every night. That flower atop that
cactus, well, it was just another wonderment to the daily success
of breathing past sunset.
