Homeward Bound

    so many times
    i tried to step out
    onto the current
    that you call abyss,
    that you mock as loss
    villify as accursed.

    from where i stand
    perched, toes vanishing
    under a dense misrecognition,
i can see the other side.

i want to tread where feet
    where gravity has no meaning.

    your grip is no
    consolation.
there are so many like me
    unborn, too old
    too indifferent
    too mangled
    too incomplete
    so many of us
    made examples
    of a faith
    in things unseen.

    here, at the precipice
    we can see those things.

    we think you faithless,
    otherwise
    you would never deny us
    this
    leap
    of
    consciousness.
