Performance Art has had its moment. Commercials now exemplify in much more absurdist and elegant terms many of the theories of Dadaism on down through probing conceptual art. ALmost. Given this current state of affairs, not to mention the impracticaility of trying to put up any piece of presentational performance at all in the age of late capitalism and corporate rule. The story has re-emerged as a vital site for un-making the world; reinvestigating body parts and social interactions through attention to minutae on the edges of media vision. Remembering, retreading has become a political act; but we must not relinquish the drive to insert ourselves into the past, since we know that there is no break between then and now and next. (This needs work, but you'l see where I'm going soon enough...)
